The Republic of Indonesia, commonly known as “Indonesia” or simply “Indonesia”, is a Southeast Asian country consisting of 17,506 islands and is the largest archipelagic country in the world, spanning Asia and Oceania, known as it is the largest archipelago in the world, spanning Asia and Oceania, and is also known as the “Land of 10,000 Islands”. The country is a republic, with an elected parliament and president. The capital of Indonesia is Jakarta. Indonesia is bordered by Papua New Guinea on the island of New Guinea, East Timor on the island of Timor, and Malaysia on the island of Borneo, as well as Singapore, the Philippines, and Australia. Indonesia is a founding member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and a member of the Group of 20.
